UPI yesterday reported that Intelligence reports of Iraqi troops placing explosives in the oil fields around Kirkuk, apparently preparing the well-heads for demolition, come with the disturbing footnote that local sources claim the troops are not Iraqi soldiers, but Iranians from the Mujaheddin-al-Khalq (MKO).
Furthermore, Iraqi opposition sources also have confirmed that they’ve seen MKO forces dressed in personal clothes in Khanaqin and Naft Shahr.
Another report indicates that Saddam Hussein is preparing to destroy the oil fields of his own country. For this purpose, he has deployed in the northern cities of iraq fighters of the armed Iranian opposition group Mujaheddin Khalq, trained by Iraq in suicide and commando tactics.
Meanwhile Saddam has used this method in war with Iran and Kuwait.
