The French ambassador strongly rejected reports that France would grant asylum to members of the terrorist MKO (who Iranians call monafeqin, meaning hypocrites) and said that his country has not and would never offer members of the group asylum.
Francois Nicoullaud stressed that only MKO members who are French citizens would be allowed to enter France since it would not be possible to bar its own nationals.
The Arabic language daily Al Watan reported that Austria, France, and Germany had already offered MKO members asylum but the group had not decided which country to relocate to.
