The editorial board of Awaa Club insists that considering the national interests of Iranian (the eight-year imposed war on whom is only an example of Saddam Crimes on them), Massoud and Maryam Rajavi- two major aides and soldiers of Saddam Hussein- should also be put on trial for advancing the policies of Saddam Hussein in Iran
Trial of Saddam Hussein started since Thursday Oct. 19. From the viewpoint of people in the Awaa Club, this historical court is necessary but not enough. As a group of Iranians and victims of Saddam dictatorship, we experienced numerous crimes of Saddam Hussein and we are well aware that many Iranians, Iraqis, Kuwaitis, Jews, communists and … experienced the same too. He’s not the only one to be blamed; there were several mercenaries, torturers, Iraqi and non-Iraqi terrorists who helped him in his crimes and turned him into today’s Saddam Hussein. He could have achieved nuclear, biological and terrorist weapons if he wasn’t toppled in 2003 and he could threaten the world and democracy-seeking people. The dictator only follows the rules of dictatorship and in democratic environment, he still believes that he’s the president of Iraq. He’s wondering why he can’t kill the people anymore. The reality is that dictators are accustomed to accusing others and when they themselves should be accountable, they use democracy and human rights to escape… when Saddam was in power, none of these (human rights, democracy and …) could be used by oppositions. Saddam was right, he is still the president of people who took him down from power; from his dictatorial viewpoint, he’s still the dictator of Iraq, just like a few years ago when he ordered madly and was not satisfied with his rule in Iraq. He wanted other countries as well to be under his rule. He prescribed dictatorship for other countries and even elected president and guards and… for such countries. He had invested a lot for shedding the blood of Iranians. Now, Iran’s weak diplomacy- that was supposed to bring both Saddam and his mercenaries to Justice at one time- ignored national interests and the security of Iranians by considering only the government, ideology and enmity with the US. The editorial board of Awaa Club insists that considering the national interests of Iranian (the eight-year imposed war on whom is only an example of Saddam Crimes on them), Massoud and Maryam Rajavi- two major aides and soldiers of Saddam Hussein- should also be put on trial for advancing the policies of Saddam Hussein in Iran.
