The role of Mujahideen-e Khalq in killing civilians was discussed in a meeting. Former member of Mujahideen: “Mojahedin attacked civilians with anti-aircraft bullets and the leaders of the organization would resort to any possible means to massacre the Kurds and civilians. The role of Mojahedin in massacring civilians was discussed in a meeting held by Nejat (salvation) Association in Sanandaj, with the presence of 23 former members of this organization. According to ILNA, Nejat Association’s secretary generals Arash Sametipour, said about the activities of the association: “This non-governmental association, formed in 2001, is comprised of former members of the MKO and their families. This associations’ efforts are focused on liberating other members of the organization physically and mentally and returning them to their families.” Former members revealed the crimes of the MKO and said that Mojahedin targeted Iraqi civilians with anti-aircraft bullets and crushed them under armored vehicles. They also revealed that the MKO members were ordered to shoot at people, they were allowed to attack residential areas with tank shells and massacre people. They were allowed to arrest Kurds, imprison them and extradite them to Baathists. They tortured captives, shot at villages and towns although there was no resistance by the people. They pressed Kurds, destroyed their villages and killed their members who opposed such crimes. They buried the people alive, plundered their properties, set their farms on fire and killed their livestock…. Hussein Karami, a witness of MKO crimes, said: “To cover the Kurds’ massacre, Rajavi claimed that they were Iranian soldiers in Kurdish clothes who had come for spying and that they deserved death. With this crime, Rajavi proved his faithfulness to Saddam and boosted his position in Iraq.” Suleiman Ranjam, another witness of these crimes, said: “MKO’s mission was to draw a border line between Iraqi army and Kurdish areas. They acted as border guards. Morvarid operation was not a beginning for massacring Kurds by the MKO, nor was it the end of it. This was the peak of MKO’s crimes in Kelar, Tuz and Kefri. They conducted brutal massacre in these cities and Rajavi was not afraid of that.” Abbas Karami, another witness added: “In 1991, a number of MKO commanders reported their activities in this operation to Maryam Rajavi and she claimed that it was only a quarter of the disaster inflicted on Kurds by Mojahedin.”
