Uday Al Khadran the mayor of Khalis in Diyala province announced today that the presence of the Mojahedin Khalq in Camp New Iraq (formerly Camp Ashraf) has finally ended and the remaining 40 members have been transferred to Camp Liberty in Baghdad.

He said the camp is now clear of members of this organisation after over three decades .Their presence was not welcomed by the people of the province, particularly because of their negative role in financing and supporting violent and terrorist groups in the region. They were for a long time a tool in the hands of the former regime of Saddam and killed and oppressed many Iraqis.

The mayor of Khalis added that getting rid of the last remnants of the Mojahedin Khalq in this province is a joyous occasion for all the people of Diayla.
