MKO activities Banned in the U.S
The U.S. government shut down the office of National Council of Resistance, Political wing of MEK, on August 15th. This office was the only way for MKO's presence and activities in the U.S since the activities of this organization had been banned since Clinton government, who had called this group a terrorist. A placard has been put in front of the office saying: "the activity of this organization has been banned." This offices was shut down after Colin Powel called NCRI a terrorist organization. The agents of government went there to shut the office but there was nobody in there. The officials of the U.S. have said that the assets of the NCRI have been frozen and that financial aids from U.S. citizens to this group also are banned. The U.S. government has announced that membership in the group is no more legal. A federal agent said: "any kinds of support from the group or use of the properties of this group under any names and … are illegal. Mr. Powel has stressed in his announcement that MEK is a foreign terrorist group, under whatever names. Mr. Powel said that all offices of NCRI or MKO in the U.S. and abroad are included in the recent rule. MKO was first called as terrorist when Clinton was the president and it was considered as a good gesture toward Iran by analysts. Iran welcomed Clinton's move at that time but the activities of NCRI's offices continued up to 15th August.
