John Bolton’s appointment as Assistant to the President, National Security Advisor attracted controversy because of his past links to the terrorist MEK group. Now his Public Financial Disclosure Report reveals just how much money Bolton was paid by the group to speak at its events: ‘Globe Events–European Iranian Events 1st July 2017’.

Washington Editor of Al Monitor, Julian Pecquet, tweeted “Revealed: @AmbJohnBolton ‘s speaking fees for last year’s #MEK / NCRI #Iran regime-change dinner in Paris: $40,000 (#31) h/t @aaronjschaffer”. Aaron Schaffer also highlighted another payment in September last year; “Another one: Bolton was paid $20,000 (#49) by the US Foundation for Liberty for two speaking appearances, including this one protesting Iranian President @HassanRouhani’s appearance at UNGA in September”.

Richard Engel from NBC’s On Assignment re-tweeted “Finally we have a concrete figure for how much John Bolton was paid to speak at an MEK event last year – $40k acc to his financial disclosure. On Assignment had aired a segment titled ‘The MEK’s man inside the White House’ asked ‘How did a fringe Iranian opposition group with a history of assassinating Americans get so cozy with the likes of John Bolton and Rudy Giuliani?’ Bolton was reluctant to reveal his financial links with the MEK to journalists.
