A renowned political analyst and a former U.S. Marine veteran during Vietnam War describes the Mujahedin-e Khalq organization (MKO, a.k.a. MEK and PMOI) as an "Israeli front organization."
"Regarding the past of the PMOI, it's hard to believe that such a group that still suffers all symptoms and problems of a totalitarian cult of personality, violent activities, hidden financial resources, lie, threat, accusation and destruction of civilians under the pretext of enlightening, has turned into a democratic organization!"
"I think [the delisting of the MKO] was a terrible move in all respects, ... terrible move in the way the Iranians perceived it, and a terrible move because it basically acknowledged a terrorist group is now not a terrorist group anymore, and they clearly certainly still are," Lawrence Wilkerson said in an interview with the Real News Network.
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehman-Parast said on Tuesday that if the US government ‎removes the name of the terrorist group, with a long history in terrorist acts, from the list, "it would be ‎an act of violating international obligations and weakening global efforts in fighting against terrorism" ‎and will be condemned by world public opinion.
