This project, called “Tango with MKO”, is a result of accurate identification of Rajavi’s cult, especially after conducting interviews with dissident members. This project looks realistically at dissolution of the group and is not influenced by the deceptions of Mojahedin.
According to the latest information, after the recent changes in the US government and in the decisions about the status of Terrorist Mojahedin-e Khalq organization and the way it should be treated, the US administration has concluded that it should take the group towards collapse through an erosive long interaction. This project, called “Tango with MKO”, is a result of accurate identification of Rajavi’s cult, especially after conducting interviews with dissident members. This project looks realistically at dissolution of the group and is not influenced by the deceptions of Mojahedin. Of course this project has other details which will gradually affect the organization so the next year will be very determining. Mojahedin also, in their announcements complaining about returning of former members to Iran, have directly and indirectly criticized this policy since they admit that: “ICRC’s North Africa and Middle East spokesman in Geneva said to reporters that the Iranians who are now being transferred to Iran have all been under the supervision of multinational forces and that haven’t been under the control of Mojahedin.” Moajhedin here admit that the penitent members have been under the control of Americans and MKO has not been able to stop them from returning. There’s no doubt that return of these people was not based on MKO’s request; Mojahedin hoped the US won’t let them get back (due to its differences with Iranian government) and that these members would be kept in the camp or be repatriated to the group again! But Americans, in the first phase of “Tango” and in order to encourage those members still being held inside Camp Ashraf, paved the way for returning of penitent members. Americans are well aware of the wrangling nature of Mojahedin. So, they are advancing their project quietly and carefully and it seems that any maneuver by the organization will become a wind which will inform others in Ashraf as well. Recent painful groans of the leadership in response to the return of some members have created a new atmosphere in Ashraf Camp and impatience toward organization’s promises can be seen explicitly. Another point in MKO’s announcement which should be noted is the confession of MKO’s leadership to this fact that no one, except close family and relatives of MKO members, would accept to stay in Iraq. Mojahedin had said in their February 27th announcement that “75 percent of these people (returning members) have never been the members of MKO and there has never been an official of MKO among the rest.” So, the reality which become more and more clear is that 75 percent of the people kept in Ashraf Camp have not desire to stay there and that MKO’s authorities have kept them there with deception and other control tools.
