I’m Mehran Rastegarfar, from Hamedan. In 2001, I went to turkey to find a job and there I became familiar with the intermediary of MKO. I was shown a number of video tapes and I was told that there’s an organization working with the purpose of fighting with Islamic republic. I was deceived by their promises. In Iraq they forced us to sign the forms of obligatory divorce, not committing sins and other things… In Iraq, we were under severe mental pressure since all the things we were doing were obligatory and we had no right to decide. The more time passed, I felt that I was a robot. I had no will for myself. When the US invaded Iraq, and after the disarmament of the group by Americans, I concluded that all words of Rajavi about war and democracy have been lies because an alternative never submits its weapon to the alien force: the US, the country which wants to occupy the entire world. After disarmament, I wrote my request for leaving but officials of the organization refused to accept. Since I was under heavy pressure, tried committing suicide several times, I swallowed tablets; slit my blood vein … and official still didn’t accept my requests. They said that I was captive of disbeliefs… until I and a friend of mine escaped from Ashraf in May 2003 and stayed with Americans for about 11 months. There, we got that members won’t be sent abroad since the organization was on the terror lists. First I wanted to go abroad but then I changed my mind and with the cooperation of Islamic republic I have returned to my own country, and I’m so happy to be with my family after 4 years. And with the good treatment of Iranian authorities I concluded that nowhere is like home. If I’m supposed to die, I prefer to die in my own country. I now know Monafeqin (MKO) and I know the ones captive in Camp Ashraf. They can’t return due to certain problems, since everyone who wants to return will be tortured by MKO. I’m waiting for a day when all of them can return to Iran, because their families are impatiently waiting to see them. Many of them (MKO members) have not seen their fathers for several years.
