Inserting this in draft constitution- which was signed with no objection- endangers the survival of the MKO. They know that according to this law, Mojahedin have committed crimes and are on the list of terrorist organization. More importantly, they have damaged Iraq and Iraqis. They’re subjected to being deported and being restrained from getting refugee status.
In the follow-up of MKO’s interferences in Iraq’s affairs (such as opposing the elections, instigating tribes not to participate in the elections, and open opposition to the government of Mr. Jaafari), they have recently started some activities by their British lobby. By sending letters- in opposition to Iraqi constitution- to different figures, they try to create tension and crisis and to disrupt the process. The major problem for the MKO in Iraq is that Iraqis don’t want them and that Iraqi government has expressed openly its opposition to the presence of this group in Iraq. For instance, Mr. Talabani has expressed his position on the issue. 3rd clause of article 21 in draft constitution says: asylum right won’t be granted to the one who’s been accused of committing terrorist or international crime and also t the one who’s damaged Iraq. Also, Iraqi press has been reflecting these days the huge wave of Iraqis’ disappointment of this terrorists’ presence in Iraq. This has frightened the group more than ever before and has revealed their lies and claims on having the support of millions of tribesmen.
