When preparing the list, US State Department has informed some supporters of the group (in the Congress and other places) of the group’s nature and crimes so that there was no negative response from the supporters when the list was published. Understanding the real nature of the group, they have learned that supporting the group is not helpful at all. They decided to endorse the decision of the government
It’s now nearly more than two months since the MKO was redesignated as a foreign terrorist organization, remaining on the US terror list. During this time, remnants of Rajavi tried to kept this fact in secret and hide it from the members and supporters.
Three days ago the news broke in the media and the failure of covert deals with Americans was revealed, but the MKO is still silent and is stupidly going to hide the dark future that waits them.
Generally, the reasons for painful silence of the MKO can be summarized as follows:
1. Rajavi’s remnants- supported by some Zionist parties, arms dealers and a number of US congress members- started a wave of lobby efforts to convince the US government to lift its name from terror list. In this regard, they did their best to get out of the list by holding meetings to announce their so-called revelations on Iranian nuclear programs and to justify warmongers’ reasons for attacking Iran.
After being disarmed by US forces and interviewed by the State Department and Pentagon, MKO relied crazily on a baseless article in New York Times to claim that “Now that MKO members have been screened by State Department and Pentagon and there has been no document on their involvement in terrorist operations, they should be lifted from the list”! With this stupid reasoning, they deployed their agents to the scene.
At that time, Irandidban repeatedly declared that US officials have been investigating on MKO’s role in terrorist operations in the West and in 9/11 and that it had nothing to do with the terrorist history of the group and its crimes in Iran.
In addition, these investigations led to the banning of many of MKO’s illegal activities, including money laundering in the Wes. Colin Powell, then Secretary of State, issued the order for shutting down the NCRI offices and added that to the terror list. Supporting that group, in any form, was banned and later it was revealed that the US had discovered the illegal activities of that group.
However, Rajavi’s remnants tried to influence the review of the list by lobbying and making controversy. They even asked to work for the strategic goals of the US, requesting officially from the US to give back their weapons but the US government paid no attention.
When preparing the list, US State Department has informed some supporters of the group (in the Congress and other places) of the group’s nature and crimes so that there was no negative response from the supporters when the list was published. Understanding the real nature of the group, they have learned that supporting the group is not helpful at all. They decided to endorse the decision of the government. Supporters of the group understood that supporting a notorious group will in fact defame them themselves and that there’s no place for such moves in the US politics.
Having lost the traditional supporters in the US, MKO was forced to become silent about the news in order not to influence its few British and Portuguese supporters. So, they intensified activities in Britain and claimed falsely to have the support of British parliamentarians in order to bring back their former friends to the first point of supporting; this also failed.
2. Since the group was detained in Iraq, remnants of Rajavi always tried to introduce their American guards as “saviors” to the members who have lost their morale. They wanted to convince the members that Americans needed the MKO to promise that they would be lifted from the list.
Ignominious silence of Rajavi’s remnants on the issue is because they know that any stance will increase the number of defectors and that those who had decided to leave Camp Ashraf a long time ago will be more determined to make it.
President Trump’s belligerent, all-caps tweet about Iran this past weekend is hardly a natural response to anything the Iranians have been saying or doing lately. Iranian President Hassan Rouhani did...
